Power of Reflection, Part 3 | How Awareness Helps You Build Confidence, Make Money, And Improve Relationships
Have you ever wondered how people seem to handle everything in their life with poise and composure?
Do you know anyone who is so calm and level-headed that they seem impervious to stress or fear?
Have you ever looked at those people and thought "Damn, I can't handle anything and they can handle anything! What is wrong with me?"
If so, that sentiment is common even for those who seem to so easily handle life.
I live by a great quote that said, "LIFE NEVER GETS EASIER. WE JUST GET TOUGHER."
The key ingredient to concoct that toughness is deep SELF-AWARENESS. I refer to the depth of self awareness because self awareness comprises a big long spectrum. To understand more about the spectrum, go watch my short video on it HERE.
It goes without saying that life will never cease to present challenges to all of us. That is why there is no one total fix for one's health that protects them from all maladies and harm. This is also why things like meditation and healthy nutrition have to be MAINTAINED over a life span to prevent as much hardship as possible.
Survival requires wellness. Wellness requires maintenance.
But you do not know what kind of wellness you need or what habits to maintain unless you foster a deeper understanding of yourself.
I recently wrote about how, even though self reflection is crucial for your health, people in the world don't care to partake because it is uncomfortable, uncertain, risky, etc. They literally fear what they don't yet understand. Read my article about this fear and the reasons why people don't self-reflect HERE before moving on in this one.
Let's focus on the positive today, though, shall we?
In order to toughen us up and help us survive, the benefits of self awareness (via self reflection) include:
PERSONAL TRAITS:
Confidence: trust in your self, awareness of your abilities, strengths, weaknesses, origin story, coping skills, talents, resources, etc. as a tool belt you wear EVERYWHERE.
Resilience: the ability to calmly see a challenge, assess a challenge, face a challenge, and recover from whatever outcome of the challenge to learn for next time.
Direction: knowing who you are, why you are the way you are, and what one special thing you are on this earth to offer defines your life purpose.
Flow: once you know your purpose, you can assess every career step based on it, make decisions quicker, and more easily enter flow states while serving your purpose.
Determination: once you hit that flow state and you feel purposefully directed, your attention will be much more focused and you will accelerate toward your goal.
Excitement / Happiness: the laser-like direction of your focus will make you feel competent and productive toward something that interests you.
THESE TRAITS POSITIVELY IMPACT YOUR LIFE BY:
Increasing self-advocacy in relationships, friendships, and at work
Improving honest communication in relationships
Increasing the general mood of conversations
Improving productivity at work
Boosting overall work performance
Increasing how much money you make
New opportunities for your career to evolve
Enabling you to make decisions faster and healthier
Facing and relieving stress faster
Amplifying the positive impact you have on other people
Increasing physical energy
Helping you better serve you customers and your community
Enabling you to make healthier connections with people
Protecting and supporting your heart health and mental health
Saving you money on medical care
Motivating you to take healthier and more fulfilling challenges
Improving relationships within your family
And lots more...
I could keep going for a long time, but the point is that the Personal Traits that Self Awareness endows upon you equip you to be more successful in all areas of your life.
It gives you the confidence to trust yourself, the clarity to pursue new challenges and opportunities, and the resilience to handle any outcome.
Yes, of course it is an uncomfortable process and, since awareness is on a spectrum, so is the degree of discomfort.
The journey to self-understanding is not easy because we humans love to find the comfortable route to survival, but the discomfort is just a growing pain on the way to be the next-level version of yourself and foster the next-level version of your life.
